SWITZERLAND. Unique Flughafen (Airport) Zurich today blamed “lower than anticipated” duty free sales for a decline in first half net profit.
For the period ended June, net profit fell to SFR3.8 million (US$3.0 million) from SFR4.1 million a year earlier. The Nuance Group is Unique’s duty free and main travel retailer.
Sales (all activities) in the first half rose by +3.8% to SFR317.3 million (US$253 million) and EBITDA rose to SFR155.1 million (US$123.7 million).
Aviation business revenue rose +6.0% higher to SFR141.6 million (US$113 million).
First-half passenger numbers in the period rose +4.3% on a higher volume of transfer passengers. Unique said it expects a higher full-year result than last year but said the targeted +50% rise in profit is “overly ambitious”.
More details as they come to hand.
