Spa Ceylon, the prominent Sri Lankan Ayurveda retail and spa company, is launching a new range at next week’s TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition (Basement 1 T7).
Ayurveda Virgin Coconut offers 16 skus which include products for scalp and body care, aromatic essential oils and hand creams. Spa Ceylon said its base ingredient, virgin coconut oil, is naturally cold pressed from local coconuts. RRP prices range between US$20 and US$30 for 200 and 300ml.
Spa Ceylon announced plans to expand in travel retail in 2016, and Spa Ceylon Manager International Business Development Nishantha de Alwis described its development as “very successful” in the period since.
“We have now opened 14 sales operations in Asia, including stand-alone stores, kiosks and onboard airlines. Expectations are to increase to 20 locations by the end of 2018.”
On the domestic market, Spa Ceylon has 70 boutiques in 13 countries. Q2 2018 will see new stores in Vietnam, Australia, Japan, the Maldives and Sri Lanka. The brand is planning to roll out in Central and Eastern Europe later this year and will further expand its Asian footprint in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.
“As we enter these new markets in domestic retail we are also exploring opportunities to open in travel retail,” de Alwis said.
“Our long-term goal is to expand into other major markets in domestic retail, including Western Europe, USA and Russia, while simultaneously opening travel retail points of sale in these new markets.
“Wellness is becoming a priority to people at every point in their life and in turn during travel as well. We see the wellness segment in travel retail evolving beyond conventional spa treatment, such as massages, to more lifestyle wellness need-oriented products and experiences in segments such as sleep, de-stress, detoxing and anti pollution.
“Spa Ceylon is creating specific products and services to match these needs,” de Alwis concluded.
