SSP captures seven-year contract at Athens International Airport

Le Grand Comptoir is among the brands that will feature at Athens Airport

GREECE. Leading travel food specialist SSP has captured a seven-year contract said to be worth €42 million to run nine outlets at Athens International Eleftherios Venizelos Airport. The first outlets opened in March.

In the main terminal building, landside departures area level 2, there will be a 500sq m food court, featuring a number of international brands as well as concepts designed to reflect the local Greek cuisine.

SSP’s brasserie brand Le Grand Comptoir will be a central feature of the food court while there is local flavour in Greek-themed concept Plate’a. In addition SSP brings its upscale bakery brand Panopolis, pizza, pasta and panini outlet Negroni and Asian concept Yum Cha to the airport. The food court line-up will be completed by a salad bar, a juice bar and a “˜grab and go’ area.

On the Mezzanine level landside there will be an Italian restaurant called La Pasteria. There will also be a Flocafe coffee lounge, which is the leading coffee shop chain in Greece.

SSP CEO Kate Swann said: “Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos serves a large and growing number of international passengers, and we are delighted to be investing in this important European destination.”
