SSP kicks off Sofia Airport F&B programme with Starbucks and Camden food co. venues

BULGARIA. Global travel restaurateur SSP has revealed its debut food & beverage concepts in Bulgaria. It has opened a Starbucks coffee shop and a Camden food co. outlet at Sofia International Airport.

Located in the Terminal 2 departures area, the venues are part of an extensive F&B programme in collaboration with airport operator SOF Connect (see our story here).

SSP will also open concepts from global brands Burger King and TGI Fridays. These will be complemented by its proprietary brands Upper Crust, Soul + Grain, Levito, Ta.Sh.Ba and Dao Dao, plus the bespoke-to-airport concepts Meshana – A Taste of Bulgaria and Bar 09-27.

Among the guests at the Starbucks opening were (from left) SOF Connect Chief Commercial Officer Justinas Stepsys; Chargé dAffaires and Interim US Ambassador to Bulgaria Susan Falatko; SOF Connect CEO Jesús Caballero; SSP Eastern Europe and Middle East Managing Director George Antoniou; and SSP Hungary and Bulgaria Area Manager Christos Orthodoxou

The design of the new Starbucks coffee shop – which spans approximately 250sq m and seats over 100 guests – has been inspired by the landscapes of coffee-growing regions, with a natural colour scheme and a curved ceiling to evoke coffee farms’ mountainous terrain.

Clearly marked walkways help passengers navigate their way through the outlet quickly and efficiently, whether ordering to take-away or drink in.

The coffee menu features Caramel Macchiato, White Mocha and Iced Café Latte alongside Starbucks signatures such as Frappuccino and the Iced Brown Sugar Oat Shaken Espresso.

SPP’s own-brand Camden Food co. offers fresh, gourmet salads, artisan sandwiches and a wide range of hot and cold drinks. Nutrient-dense snacks and freshly baked treats to grab-and-go are also available.

SOF Connect CEO Jesus Caballero said, “We are proud to mark the roll-out of the airport’s new F&B area with the opening of a Starbucks coffee shop and Camden food co. In partnership with SSP. We have created an innovative experience to suit each passenger’s journey through the airport.

“This demonstrates our commitment to elevate the passenger experience to the highest industry standards and achieve a 5-star airport rating,”

SSP Eastern Europe and Middle East CEO Mark Angela said, “We’re delighted to be working with SOF Connect to support their exciting plans to create an outstanding airport experience. We will be bringing a strong and innovative range of international and bespoke brands to the airport, many of which are making their debut in Bulgaria.

“Our brand line-up was created following extensive research into the needs of passengers at Vasil Levski Airport. Our outlets and fabulous team members will create an environment that captures the true spirit of hospitality and heritage that is so much a part of Bulgarian culture.

“These magnificent bars, restaurants and cafés will be a business that both SSP and SOF Connect can be proud of, and that our guests will enjoy visiting for years to come.”   ‍
