SSP partners media group NZZ in Zurich Airport cafe concept

SWITZERLAND. Food and beverage concessionaire SSP has teamed up with Swiss newspaper NZZ (New Zurich Times) to open an outlet at Zurich Airport called NZZ Café.

Located airside, it allows customers to catch up with the latest news before their flight, while also offering them a range of premium snacks and sandwiches inspired by local ingredients.

LCD screens in the outlet display current headlines, while iPads allow customers to access news content from NZZ.

The design of the NZZ Café is described as “sleek, light and contemporary”

Every customer at the café is also offered an instant download of the day’s editon of NZZ and a free four-week subscription to the publication.

The “sleek, light and contemporary” café serves fresh sandwiches including rustic Venticina salami served in Laugenstange german-style wheat roll, Pastrami with tartar sauce in a swiss bread called Bürli, or a Swiss traditional favourite of dried beef, smoked ham, salami, gruyere cheese in a Campaillette baguette.

SSP Germany, Austria & Switzerland CEO Cornelius Everke said: “Offering access to news via digital media is a key priority for news organisations. It is also important for F&B providers to communicate with consumers via media that is part of their everyday lives.

“This new partnership offers both NZZ and SSP a creative way to become more connected, and open genuine dialogue with today’s consumer.”
