‘Street pricing’ to feature in shops at new Salt Lake City International Airport

USA. Shops in the remodelled Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), Utah, will charge the same as their branches outside the airport, it was revealed last night.

Twenty-nine outlets from Hudson Group, Paradies Lagardère, Sweet Ventures, Inc. and XPresSpa have been selected for the US$3.6 billion project’s first phase, which includes a central terminal and is due to open in autumn 2020. The second phase is due for completion in late 2024.

Other local, regional and national brands coming to the airport include Coach, Frye, King’s English, Hip & Humble and MAC. Dufry Duty Free, No Boundaries and Utah, which already exist at SLC, will remain in the redeveloped airport.

Salt Lake City Department of Airports Director of Administration and Commercial Services John Buckner said the airport was implementing “street pricing” for the new facilities: “That’s a big commitment for the city, the airport and the retailers because it is so expensive to do business.”

Initial food & beverage concessions will be announced in the coming weeks, Buckner said, with further concessions revealed later in 2019.

Salt Lake City Department of Airports Executive Director Bill Wyatt said: “Our team went through an extensive selection process to get the right combination of local, regional and national brands for those traveling through SLC. We are thrilled with the outcome and our passengers will be excited with the combination of dynamic shops opening in 2020.”
