Sunny Luxottica ready for Dolce & Gabbana launch at Cannes – 10/10/05

ITALY. This year’s TFWA World Exhibition will be the launch pad for the first Luxottica range of Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses.

Dolce & Gabbana and D&G are the latest luxury fashion brands to join the Luxottica portfolio, which already boasts some of the biggest names in the market, including Versace, Prada, Ferragamo, Bvlgari and DKNY.

“We are very excited about this launch,” said Duty Free Manager Martha Rosas. “Dolce & Gabbana is already established in the global duty free market. We are focused on developing this hugely popular brand in its current locations and indeed developing new ones.”

Some 36 styles are in the Dolce & Gabbana collection and 26 in the D&G range. Both feature a number of metal and plastic frames.

A Dolce & Gabbana celebration will be held for all Luxottica customers on Wednesday, 2 November during the TFWA World Exhibition (Luxottica Group Stand: Marine Village R4). Retailers are invited to meet the Luxottica team and to discover the latest designs.

Prada

Boasting pure, clean lines, Prada’s new eyewear features lightweight materials – acetate and metal – innovative technology and understated decorative motifs. Women’s models are bright and sporty yet sophisticated. Models for men reinterpret a classic style for eyewear that flaunts a fresh, young look.

Model SPR03G: An acetate frame model with broad lines and a curlicue decoration in metal, set into the arm. The colours are black, tortoiseshell, forest, nude and violet, each one combining different coloured lenses and decoration.

SPR52G: A reinterpretation of the classic 1950s aviator model in a sportier, more face-hugging style. Distinctive features include a metal double bridge and eightbase lens curvature. Available in original combinations of bright colours: yellow on the inside, green, orange or cherry on the outside. Single-colour versions in classic black or tortoiseshell are also offered.

SPR01G: A masculine model with an acetate frame open on the sides, SPR01G features lenses fixed with nylon thread and slim metal arms attached with a screw. The colours are black; two different tones of tortoiseshell; stone; and forest and moss.

Prada Sport models: The Prada Sport collection gains a new model, specially designed for the Luna Rossa sailing crew. The yachtsmen will be sporting this eyewear during the next America’s Cup yachting trophy.

SPS01F: The face-hugging shape, and internal components in super-injection moulded rubber and upper air vents, make this a technical, lightweight model.

Simple, geometric models are complemented by more elaborate, imaginative eyewear. Highlights are the acetate frames for women, enhanced by original decorative motifs and refined details.

SMU19E/SMU20E: These models are brightly coloured and spirited, highlighting the colour contrasts of arms, frame and browbar.

SMU19E is made in acetate. Colours span black and tortoiseshell with vibrant colour combinations such as black and sky, tangerine and grass or cherry and tangerine.

SMU20E has a metal browbar in silver or gold, matched respectively with dark brown and sky or camel and jade and aquamarine and camel.

SMU21E: The rectangular frame, featuring signature milling that creates three-dimensional effects, is paired with arms that display circular metal mirrors of various sizes. Colours include black and tortoiseshell; paler, more feminine pearl ivory, dove grey and cyclamen and pink; or vibrant ruby and forest and grass.

SMU62E: A metal drop-shaped mask meets slim acetate arms. A vertical Miu Miu logo is discreetly engraved at the intersection of the arms and frame. Available in black and tortoiseshell and in brighter shades such as pink and orange.

Versace

Versace’s new eyewear collection is bold, with wrap-around, oversize masks and large, slightly curved lenses.

VE 4063B features large, oval lenses in black, moss-green, rust or berry-red lit up on the acetate arms by Swarovski crystals in different sizes. This model will appear in the Fall 2005 advertising campaign.

Glitter appears on the aviator-style model VE 2039B, where four tiny crystals and lacquered dots frame Versace’s Medusa head on the hinge. The model shows the sleek contrast between the metal-framed lenses and the acetate arms – a recurrent motif in this season’s collection. The colour palette is discreet and neutral in steel-grey, black or periwinkle.

VE 2037 has a mono-lens with a mask shape framed in metal and wide acetate arms to give a wrap-around feel. The brand’s name on the arms replaces the Medusa and is spelt out in silver letters. The unisex model is available in pink and tortoiseshell.

VE 4058, featured in the Spring/Summer 2005 campaign on Madonna, has been reworked and is now available with pink lenses and transparent orange acetate arms.

All Versace sunglasses have 100% UV protection lenses.
