Super Junior wows fans at Lotte Duty Free event in Seoul

SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free yesterday (10 August) hosted a fan event in Seoul featuring hugely popular boy band Super Junior.

Super Junior, often dubbed collectively as the ‘King of Hallyu Wave’, led the two-hour event that included live performances, talk shows, games, prize draws and group photos.

Before meeting fans, Super Junior visited Lotte Duty Free’s Seoul stores in Myeong-dong and Lotte World Tower to enjoy shopping, showing particular interest in Korean cosmetics and fashion brands.

The event, held at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, was designed to enhance the appeal of duty-free shopping in line with increasing foreign tourist numbers visiting Lotte Duty Free.

The travel retailer worked with domestic and international travel agencies to attract 350 overseas tourists to the gathering, mainly from Japan, China, and Southeast Asia.

Quoting Korea Tourism Organization statistics, Lotte Duty Free said Japanese tourist numbers to the Republic in H1 rose about +66% year-on-year to 1.43 million. Japanese travellers were the second-biggest visitor group in that period, ranking only behind the Chinese.

Super Junior has been Lotte Duty Free’s representative model since 2013. The group has contributed to raising Lotte Duty Free’s global status by participating in major events such as the Lotte Duty Free Family Concert and the retailer’s store opening ceremony at Nội Bài International Airport in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Lotte Duty Free said it will continue to strengthen marketing activities that link duty-free shopping and tourism to attract global tourists.

In May, it drew 4,000 Chinese incentive groups to the Myeong-dong flagship store for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Lotte Duty Free official said, “Lotte Duty Free is holding various events such as fan meetings and VIP invitation events to attract foreign tourists.
“We will continue to take the lead in attracting tourists to Korea through diverse marketing activities and provide customers with abundant benefits.” ✈
