Swine flu update: Airports Council International issues special bulletin to members on virus threat – 29/04/09

INTERNATIONAL. Airports Council International (ACI) yesterday released an information bulletin related to swine influenza A (H1N1) – commonly known as “˜swine flu’.

ACI said it is closely tracking developments concerning the reported cases of swine flu, including statements and actions proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the US and European Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

Its advice to members is as follows:

1. Monitor the WHO website (www.who.int) for updates. A daily report will be broadcast by the WHO Geneva, Switzerland media centre at 18:00 (GMT+2) at www.who.int/mediacentre/en/

2. Confer with your national government and local health authorities responsible for managing the response to public health emergencies. Airports in the US should also monitor the CDC website www.cdc.gov/swineflu/) and in Europe the ECDC website (www.ecdc.europa.eu).
