Tamdhu Gran Reserva enters Asia Pacific travel retail with China Duty Free Group

CHINA. Ian Macleod Distillers this month launched the new Tamdhu Single Malt Gran Reserva in Asia Pacific travel retail, in partnership with China Duty Free Group (CDFG).

The travel retail-exclusive expression is packaged in a deep red and gold presentation box and is now available in Hainan offshore duty free and in selected airports in China through the retailer.

The new Tamdhu Gran Reserva celebrates the Spanish sherry oak heritage of Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt and appeals to sherry cask whisky connoisseurs, said the brand owner. The Gran Reserva whisky is matured in European oak first-fill Oloroso sherry casks, stored in the distillery’s traditional dunnage warehouses.

After the initial launch with CDFG, Tamdhu Single Malt Gran Reserva will be rolled out to other selected luxury travel retail outlets

European oak casks enhance the character of the whisky. Tamdhu Gran Reserva is bottled unchill-filtered at 46% ABV, is natural in colour and has an RRP of US$199. It is Tamdhu’s second listing with CDFG, after the introduction of Tamdhu 18 Year Old Single Cask in June.

“We are hugely excited to be working with Ian Macleod Distillers and adding to the Tamdhu range with the new Gran Reserva in China travel retail,” said China Duty Free Group President Charles Chen. “We look forward to our customers tasting this wonderfully complex, exclusively sherry cask-matured whisky.”

“We are thrilled to introduce the new Tamdhu Gran Reserva to the Asia Pacific travel retail market with our valued partner, China Duty Free Group. Tamdhu has real momentum in the China domestic market and this gives us real confidence that it will be well received in the travel retail environment,” said Ian Macleod Distillers Global Travel Retail Director William Ovens.

After the initial launch with CDFG, Tamdhu Single Malt Gran Reserva will be rolled out to other selected luxury travel retail outlets globally.

Tamdhu single malt was launched in the travel retail channel in selected European outlets in 2018. It is the only single malt dedicated to maturing exclusively in sherry casks, noted the brand owner.
