Tasa Meng hails launch of Johnnie Walker Double Black

TAIWAN. Diageo GTME Asia Pacific held a launch party for Johnnie Walker Double Black last month at the Le Meridien Hotel Taipei.

Held in Room 18, the launch party was held in conjunction with the charity dinner organised by leading travel retailer Tasa Meng, which raised NT$1,768,000 (US$60,000) for World Vision.

As reported, Tasa Meng Chairman Nancy Ku made a donation of NT$1,000,000 (US$33,000) while the dinner managed to raise an additional NT$768,000 (US$25,000) via auctions. The charity party was graced by Emers Culture and Arts Foundation Chairman Elaine Tsai I-Lun as the guest of honour.

The Double Black launch party was attended by over 300 guests, which included VIPs from Tasa Meng’s consumer base. They were invited to celebrate the success of Johnnie Walker Double Black in all Taiwan airports as well as some of the other airports in the region, including Singapore Changi, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi and Seoul Incheon. It will soon be rolled out in Shanghai and Beijing.

Year to date, Double Black has been registering “phenomenal growth” in terms of sales and consumer base, said Diageo. It has received a positive response from many of the VIPs who were invited to a tasting session by a brand ambassador at the launch party, the company added.

Diageo GTME Asia Pacific General Manager Jay Woo and Diageo Greater China Customer Director Raymond Cheung went on stage to thank the Taiwan duty free retailers (Tasa Meng, TTL, EverRich) for their efforts in helping Diageo to make Double Black “a great new hero in duty free”. They also extended their gratitude to their regular traveller VIPs for their avid support of Johnnie Walker each time they pass through Taiwan’s airports.
