Taiwanese travel retailer Tasa Meng has underlined its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and promoting environmental sustainability by making a substantial donation to Dajiaoxi Experimental Forest of National Ilan University.
The donation, made on 15 July, will help advance long-term initiatives in reforestation and silviculture (the art and science of controlling the establishment, growth, composition, health and quality of forests and woodlands).
Led by Tasa Meng General Manager Gary Chau and National Ilan University President Wei-Jung Chen, both parties planted a variety of native species on the same day. This marked a new chapter in industry-academia collaboration to preserve Taiwan’s low-altitude forest ecosystems, Tasa Meng noted.
Located in Jiaoxi Township, Yilan County, the Dajiaoxi Experimental Forest is an exclusive teaching and research site managed by National Ilan University.

It represents a typical lowland broadleaf forest ecosystem in the Lanyang region, rich in flora and fauna and home to many rare and endangered species. The forest serves multiple functions, including education, scientific research and biodiversity conservation.
Over the years, it has become a key base for forest management, ecological monitoring, and sustainable forest use in Taiwan.
During the tree-planting event, the two parties jointly planted native tree species, including Cyclobalanopsis glauca, Liquidambar formosana and Acacia confusa.
A mixed approach combining plantation forest and natural forest management was adopted to enhance forest health and biodiversity.

Tasa Meng has pledged long-term support for the silvicultural management of one hectare of forestland, including planting, weeding, pest and disease control, and growth monitoring. The initiative aims to achieve both forest restoration and carbon sink benefits.
Upholding its core philosophy of ‘giving back to society’, Tasa Meng has long been dedicated to public welfare and environmental protection.
The company said its donation to the Dajiaoxi Experimental Forest demonstrates a strong and ongoing commitment to natural resource conservation and corporate responsibility.
“Through concrete actions in forest preservation, Tasa Meng not only injects new momentum into Taiwan’s sustainable forestry efforts but also sets an exemplary model for corporate ESG governance,” the company said.
National Ilan University President Wei-Jung Chen expressed his gratitude for Tasa Meng’s generous support and practical contribution, which he said strengthens the university’s ecological management and forest-related educational research.
He said the university will continue to integrate the expertise of faculty and students through field surveys, scientific research and community engagement to enhance forest management and environmental education.
Chen expressed his hope that more enterprises will join in protecting Taiwan’s invaluable forest resources. ✈
