‘Taste of Place’ – SSP America wins F&B and retail tender at Spokane International Airport

USA. Food & beverage company SSP America, part of SSP Group, has been awarded a ten-year contract to lease, develop and manage the restaurant and retail programme of Spokane International Airport.

SSP America will oversee the operation of nearly six retail locations and develop and operate 11 restaurant locations across the airport’s terminals, including the soon-to-be-opened expanded Concourse C gate area.

SSP America is reimagining the concessions programme of Spokane International Airport with a variety of locally driven F&B concepts that celebrate the culture of the Spokane Coeur d’Alene community

The new food & beverage offer will focus on local concepts that celebrate the region’s culture and heritage. These include Zona Tacos and Tortas, helmed by James Beard Award Semifinalist for Best Chef Northwest & Pacific Chad White.

Other highlights include The Yards Bruncheon by Chef Adam Hegsted, also a James Beard Award Semifinalist; as well as Jack & Dan’s Tavern, Iron Goat Brewing Co. Wanderlust Delicato, Wiley’s Downtown Bistro and Thomas Hammer Coffee Roasters among others.

SSP America Senior Vice President of Development and Pursuit of New Airports Scott Welding commented: “We have a passion for bringing a ‘Taste of Place’ to passengers. Our goal is to shine a spotlight on the people, brands and flavours that make each region distinct and are thankful for the opportunity to become part of the Spokane International Airport community.”

“When travellers visit Spokane International Airport, they’re not just passing through our gates onto their next destination,” commented Spokane Airports Board Chair Ezra Eckhardt. “They’re stepping through the front door of the Spokane Coeur d’Alene community and reimagining the airport’s concessions programme enables us to simultaneously enhance the passenger experience and create new opportunities to engage and spotlight local Inland Northwest businesses.

“After an extensive RFP process, we’re pleased to welcome SSP America to the airport and look forward to the innovative approach we expect they will bring to our concessions programme.” ✈
