The Estée Lauder Companies makes key leadership appointments for Clinique, Smashbox and Glamglow brands

Freyre has extensive experience leading numerous beauty brands across categories and channels

The Estée Lauder Companies has named Michelle Freyre as Clinique Global Brand President and Glenn Evans as Global Brand President of Smashbox and Glamglow. The promotions are effective from 1 July. Both Freyre and Evans will continue to report directly to The Estée Lauder Companies Executive Group President John Demsey.

Clinique Global Brand President Michelle Freyre

Freyre was appointed Senior Vice President/Global General Manager for Clinique in June 2020 and has since led the brand to achieving double-digit growth for its hero products. Freyre was responsible for redefining the innovation strategies for Clinique’s franchises and delivered successful Clinique High-Touch experiences at scale globally. She accelerated the brand’s online presence to becoming the top-performing brand online in North America.

Freyre joined the company in 2020 after an impressive 20-year tenure at Johnson & Johnson. Here, she held various leadership positions in the Consumer Health Products department and most recently served as President of US Beauty.

Freyre has a proven track record for fostering workplace inclusivity, said the company. She was the recipient of numerous industry awards including being named as part of Fortune’s 2018 ‘50 Most Powerful Latinas in Business’. She is also the Executive Sponsor of Hispanic Connections (HiC) ERG, actively mentoring diverse talent across the organisation.

Evans led the creation of synergies between Smashbox and Glamglow

Smashbox and Glamglow Global President Glenn Evans

Evans has more than 30 years of strategic, operations and brand-building experience. In his new role, Evans will lead both the Smashbox and Glamglow brands with a core focus on developing consumer-led, online-centric innovations and adapting strategies for a changing beauty retail landscape.

Evans was appointed Senior Vice President/Global General Manager for Smashbox and in 2019, created operational and supply chain synergies between both brands, by developing new global and regional structures.

He led Smashbox’s repositioning strategy and reinforced the brand’s number one ranking in US prestige Face Primers. He also attracted new customers with the success of the Smashbox All-in-One Tinted Moisturiser.

Evans also led the global implementation of Leading Beauty Forward and OneSource, fuelling the company’s multiple engines of growth.

An advocate for inclusion and diversity across the company, Evans serves as an Executive Sponsor of wELCome, ELC’s internal employee resource group for LGBTQI+ staff.

He also sponsors the Smashbox and Glamglow Multi-Ethnic Advisory Board, an employee-led group that seeks to give a platform to diverse voices.

Commenting on the promotions, Demsey said, “Michelle and Glenn are both incredibly dynamic leaders who have beautifully steered their respective brands through the challenges of the past year. I am particularly proud of how effectively they have balanced the needs of the business while being truly thoughtful and empathetic leaders to their brand teams. Their promotions are both very well-deserved.”
