The Famous Grouse launches Celebration Blend

UK. To mark its 30th year as the best-selling whisky in Scotland, The Famous Grouse has unveiled an exclusive blend created by Master Blender Gordon Motion, presented in a limited edition Wade decanter.

The Famous Grouse Celebration Blend Decanter, presented in our unique Moodie Magnifier below, will be exhibited at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes next month on the Maxxium stand (Stand number: Green Village M53).

Containing whisky from 1981 – the year in which The Famous Grouse became Scotland’s number one selling whisky – and selected whisky from subsequent years, this is the first special blend created by Gordon Motion since he assumed the role of Master Blender in 2009.

Only 10,000 bottles are available worldwide, a proportion of which will be available in global travel retail. Introduced to the channel first by Maxxium Travel Retail, The Famous Grouse Celebration Blend Decanter is being offered at a recommended sale price (RSP) of €99.

Made by leading ceramic maker Wade, the decanter features three illustrations of the brand’s iconic grouse taking flight, painted by British wildlife artist Rodger McPhail. McPhail has had a long association with the brand, having drawn the signature red grouse which adorns every label of The Famous Grouse whisky.

The Famous Grouse Master Blender Gordon Motion commented: “The blend is a true celebration of The Famous Grouse, marking our 30th year as the best selling whisky in Scotland, the home of Scotch whisky.

“My celebration blend has a soft mellow taste with hints of vanilla and blood orange and a light smokiness. The liquid is deep gold in colour, and the nose is fragrant with heather honey and orange peel. A beautiful liquid, befitting of a beautiful decanter.”

Maxxium Travel Retail Managing Director Glen Williams said: “Maxxium Travel Retail is delighted to be the first to introduce The Famous Grouse Celebration Decanter to market. We see an increasing demand for higher style blends and limited editions with the travellers in Europe and we are confident that this new product perfectly matches the interest of these consumers.”
