The Glenrothes to launch travel exclusive in Cannes – 11/09/08

The Glenrothes Robur Reserve will retail at €49.99 for a one-litre bottle

UK. The Glenrothes is launching a new expression for its award-winning Speyside single malt whisky range, exclusively for global travel retail, at the TFWA World Exhibition next month. The Glenrothes Robur Reserve will be available from specialist premium retailers at travel hubs serving The Glenrothes core markets as well as major international airports.

“Following the success of our 25yo and 30yo whiskies, travel retail is an increasingly important channel for The Glenrothes,” said Ronnie Cox, Whisky Ambassador of the Year 2008. “Robur Reserve is a deliciously spicy single malt, competitively priced, which I am confident will find favour with whisky enthusiasts everywhere.”

The Glenrothes Robur Reserve (named for the extra influence of Quercus Robur casks) benefits from the influence of Spanish Oak first fill sherry cask, making it spicy, fruity and sweet.

It is the first expression in a litre size, and a new-style, robust frame has been developed.

The tasting notes of Malt Master John Ramsay state on the front of the bottle: “Dried fruits, mellow, sweet and spicy”. The fuller version adds:

Appearance: pale golden, clear and bright
Bouquet: ripe fruits, all spice and bright
Palate: soft mellow, dried fruits and hint of clove
Finish: smooth, sweet, good length and texture.

The Glenrothes Robur Reserve will be available in global travel retail at €49.99 for a one-litre bottle.

The Glenrothes is said to be the fastest-growing single malt in the world, according to the International Wine & Spirit Record. Research showed that from 2002 to 2006, taking into account compound annual growth over that period, The Glenrothes outgrew the competition with an annual rate of over +17%.

Among its other recent accolades, The Glenrothes 1978 Vintage was voted Best Speyside Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards 2008.
