The Macallan and Jing bring tea inspiration to channel-exclusive Harmony Collection release

A travel retail exclusive: Whisky craftsmanship elevated through tea-inspired innovation

The Macallan (Edrington Group) has unveiled a travel retail-exclusive addition to its Harmony Collection, developed in partnership with Jing, renowned curators of fine single garden teas.

Inspired by Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea is currently available at key airports worldwide and select downtown stores at an RRSP of US$190.

The latest limited-edition single malt builds on The Macallan’s partnership with Jing to explore new flavour profiles rooted in tea and nature.

The release extends the whisky brand’s pursuit of innovation and natural inspiration within The Harmony Collection.

The launch is supported by high-profile activations across key global travel retail locations, showcasing the artistry of traditional tea rituals.

The whisky captures the sensory essence of traditional tea rituals

A standout feature is the ceremonial tea tray, featuring Jing tea leaves, a tea pot and other symbolic items that convey the narrative behind the whisky.

This experience invites travellers to discover the connection between single garden tea and single malt whisky through sensory storytelling centred on Inspired by Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea.

The channel-exclusive whisky’s profile is shaped by Jing’s Organic Cherrywood Lapsang tea, a British version of Lapsang Souchong, smoked over cherrywood.

Aged in a combination of sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks, the whisky captures Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea’s distinctive notes.

The expression was developed to showcase tea’s flavour diversity, reflecting its Jing inspiration and inviting new ways of experiencing whisky.

Complementing the release is Inspired by Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea (available exclusively in domestic markets), crafted in homage to a rare oolong tea from China’s Phoenix Mountain range.

The Macallan shares Jing’s commitment to direct sourcing, managing each stage of whisky-making through owned operations and supplier partnerships, from vineyards and sherry producers in Jerez de la Frontera to oak from its sawmills in the USA and Spain.

Every stage upholds the brand’s commitment to quality, provenance and craftsmanship.

Edrington Marketing Director – Global Travel Retail Alessandro Felicani said, “This launch beautifully exemplifies our commitment to elevating the travel retail experience through innovation, storytelling and craftsmanship.

“Inspired By Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea is a unique collaboration that brings together The Macallan’s mastery of whisky-making with Jing’s exceptional tea artistry – resulting in an expression that is both evocative and unexpected.

“It speaks directly to today’s luxury travellers who seek authenticity, provenance and purposeful experiences.”

The Macallan Harmony Collection is a limited annual release that incorporates organic materials into its packaging, using resources at the end of their life cycle. In line with the company’s sustainability ethos, the presentation box is made from repurposed waste tea leaves.

Travellers can enhance the whisky’s flavour profile by adding water.

The collection continues the Whisky Mastery team’s yearly collaborations with world-renowned chefs, connoisseurs and artists to craft whiskies that showcase innovative techniques with distinctive flavour profiles.

Previous Harmony partnerships include Cirque Du Soleil, the Roca Brothers and Stella and Mary McCartney.
