INDIA. The Macallan has partnered with Delhi Duty Free to open the brand’s first large-format retail space in India at Indira Gandhi International Terminal 3.
The shop-in-shop, officially opened on 30 July, represents a milestone in The Macallan’s global expansion and provides strong visibility at one of Asia’s busiest airports, which served almost 73.7 million passengers in 2023-2024.
The Macallan space within T3 – which has capacity for 34 million passengers annually – showcases the brand’s new visual identity, inspired by the rolling hills of The Macallan Estate in Speyside, Scotland.
The space offers an integrated sensory and digital experience, including a nosing tray and digital profiling tool called ‘Discover Your Expression’, enabling travellers to easily find their preferred Colour Collection expression.
Shoppers can also discover The Macallan’s Six Pillars – the foundation stones for the character of The Macallan and the creation of its rich spirit – via a special tray feature and augmented-reality (AR) experience. The space enables shoppers to customise their purchases through the bespoke gifting ritual.
A curated selection of The Macallan single malts is showcased, allowing customers to explore a broad offering of travel exclusives and limited releases that are only available in shop-in-shops.
Travel exclusives including The Macallan Colour Collection and The Harmony Collection Green Meadow are joined by limited releases A Night on Earth, The Journey and Classic Cut, as well as prestige bottlings, including The Macallan M Decanter, M Black and M Copper.
In addition, the seventh release in The Macallan archival series, Folio 7, is available. It will be followed by Time: Space Mastery from October.
Edrington Regional Managing Director – Global Travel Retail Jeremy Speirs commented: “With its booming economy, rapidly modernising airport infrastructure and a rising middle class eager to travel overseas, India is enjoying a growing prominence within the duty-free and travel retail sector.
“In recent months, Indira Gandhi International Airport has seen a notable trend towards premiumisation, with a double-digit increase in high-spending travellers, making it the ideal location for The Macallan’s first large-format retail space in India.
“It’s our pleasure to partner with Delhi Duty Free to introduce The Macallan’s extraordinary legacy and exceptional portfolio of single malts to travellers in India as the brand celebrates its 200th anniversary.”
