INTERNATIONAL. The Moodie Report today announced the launch of travel retail’s first “˜e-Zine’, a new weekly title sent free of charge by e-mail to the industry.
The Moodie Report e-Zine will replace The Moodie Report 7 Days (PDF), which has been published since September 2002 and whose 404th edition this week will be its last.
The new title, publishing each Thursday from 11 August, will feature original content to differentiate it from TheMoodieReport.com’s intensive daily coverage of the industry. It will be complemented by The Moodie Report Newsletter, to be published each Wednesday, which will continue to offer a series of hyperlinks to the week’s biggest stories on the web.
Critically The Moodie Report e-Zine will include dynamic and interactive advertising, allowing our business partners to showcase their brands in a way not possible with traditional print media. Advertising can include video, audio and moving images or traditional full-page visuals – all linked to the respective advertiser’s website.
Editorial, too, will embrace the full multi-media opportunity. Articles will include video, Podcasts and state-of-the-art graphics. The e-Zine is searchable as well as being downloadable for off-line reading and will be available via tablet devices and phones – allowing users to read it on the go. All issues will be archived permanently on The Moodie Report.com
The Moodie Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie said: “Our new e-Zine is a major innovation for the company and for the industry. State-of-the-art technology will allow our brand partners to showcase their brands in exhilarating new ways, while the editorial content – always key to The Moodie Report – will be fresh, insightful and supported by video, sound and reader interactivity.
“And as always, there will be no subscription fee for the service, maintaining our adage of being “˜Fast, Factual, Free’ and guaranteeing the best reader penetration of any title in the market.
“Already several of our key brand partners have come onboard to support the launch issue with advertising and sponsorship. Expect to see some of the most striking campaigns ever seen in our industry.”
The Moodie Report e-Zine will feature a range of regular editorial sections, including:
• 7 Days in Travel Retail: A punchy executive summary of all the major stories of the week
• Head-to-Head: Two travel retail websites compared each week using the new “˜Moodie 100′ index
• Consumer Corner: Impressions of our industry as portrayed (by the industry, consumer media or travellers) in websites, blogs and other social and digital media.
• The Front Line: Championing excellence in customer service (every two weeks a different stores sales person from around the world will be featured)
• Traffic Monitor – all the latest passenger figures
• The Moodie Reportfolio – a weekly review of key share price movements, covering retailers, airports and brands
• Moodie Research – each week our new research division provides key market insight
• Never Hide – in which leading industry figures give a revealing insight into their private and professional lives
The first issue also features a compelling interview with Fraser Dunlop, Aldeasa-WDF Global Head of Category – Food & Souvenirs, who on 30 April 2009 was told he had “inoperable, incurable” cancer and that he had just months to live. Somehow he defied his 1% chances of survival. For the first time, he tells his tale.
