SPAIN. Welcome to the latest edition of The Moodie Report PLUS, our popular feature series published in PDF format.
The Moodie Report PLUS, published eight times a year, is dedicated to the industry’s biggest openings and commercial developments.
In this edition we visit Barcelona and discover the excellence and elegance of the new Terminal 1 at Barcelona El Prat Airport. We tour the facility with senior executives from Aldeasa, the Spanish travel retailer that enjoys a powerfully enhanced presence at T1, and hear the commercial thinking behind the ambitious project.
From a commercial revenues and consumer services perspective, we think the new terminal ticks many of the industry’s most important boxes. Spanish airports authority AENA has delivered a strong evocation of the important concept of Sense of Place; an intelligent balance between the operational and the commercial; and a diverse mix of retail and food & beverage across sectors and price offerings.
The opening has been carefully phased, and the terminal is currently handling only a fraction of its anticipated traffic. But the commercial offer is largely in place. Come with us on a visit to Catalonia.
