SOUTH KOREA. A year after beginning its two ten-year duty-free shop concessions at Incheon International Airport, The Shilla Duty Free, operated by Hotel Shilla, is continuing a phased opening of stores across multiple categories, including cosmetics, perfumes, liquor, tobacco, fashion and accessories.
As reported, the travel retailer began the two decade-long contracts on 1 July 2023. One (DF1) is a 17-store, 4,258sq m retail footprint embracing liquor & tobacco and fragrances & cosmetics. The other (DF3) involves 12 fashion and luxury stores over some 4,709sq m of space.
On 8 July, Shilla Duty Free opened its Terminal 1 liquor, tobacco and food store, followed by the exclusive launch of Kering Eyewear-owned Lindberg sunglasses yesterday, 10 July.
The liquor, tobacco and food store, located on T1’s west side, offers a comprehensive range across all three categories.
It features leading whiskey brands such as perennial Korean favourites Ballantine’s, Royal Salute and Johnnie Walker and provides an extensive array of wines and single malt whiskies. Suntory’s acclaimed duty-free exclusive Kogei Collection Japanese whisky range is offered as a Korean travel retail exclusive.

Lindberg eyewear, acquired by Kering Eyewear in 2021, is another Korean travel retail exclusive for The Shilla Duty Free.
The Lindberg department, located in the west side of T1, features a wide range of eyewear from a brand renowned for its comfort and lightness (its titanium composition weighs just 1.9 grams).
In other news, the largest Chanel Summer Mega Podium in Asia, themed Chanel Summer Club, will debut in Terminal 2 from 15 July to 20 September.
The activation will offer a variety of events, including photo booths and product exploration tailored to individual tastes. Visitors can pre-register for the event through The Shilla Online Duty Free and Chanel’s official website.
As reported, the French beauty house partnered with The Shilla Duty Free and Changi Airport Group to run a Chanel Summer Club pop-up at Singapore Changi Airport T1 from 23 May to 1 July, the first to be launched in Asia Pacific.
