This week on Instagram… Qatar Airways sets sights on Tokyo 2020; Estée Lauder and CDFG unveil a festive spectacle in Sanya

Social media has emerged as a key unofficial source of information in the digital age. As The Moodie Davitt Report steps up its mission to become ‘the KOL of B2B travel retail publishing’ (a phrase coined by leading Chinese WeChat platform Globuy), our popular weekly feature curates some of the most exciting travel retail industry updates from the social media sphere – and touches on our own contributions.

This week on Instagram… Qatar Airways showed its national pride by raising the Qatari flag and then handing it over to the pilot onboard its Tokyo flight – as part of the Team Qatar Flag Relay. The relay is part of the airline’s ongoing campaign to support Team Qatar during the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.

Malaysia Airports celebrated its 2019 Concessionaires Awards in style, where everyone dressed to impress following the event’s Cuban-inspired theme. Our own President and Editorial Director Dermot Davitt was the keynote speaker at the conference held in the EQ Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Elsewhere in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Airports shared some touching snaps from its ‘Bring Your Kids to Work Day.’ During the special family event, both kids and parents were able to tour the headquarters and spend time with the Airport Fire Rescue and Service team (AFRS).

Meanwhile in Los Angeles, LAX shared a heart-warming snap of its ‘Pups Unstressing Passengers’ (PUP) campaign; which featured its therapy dogs Eve and The Dude providing some much-needed stress relief to its passengers this holiday season.

Finally, The Moodie Davitt Report Fashion, Beauty & Social Media Editor Hannah Tan-Gillies was on location in Sanya for the official opening of Estée Lauder’s Holiday Exhibition in partnership with CDFG (China Duty Free Group.) According to Martin Moodie, the pop-up ‘triumphantly marries all the components that have come to typify great beauty campaigns in travel retail’. He hailed it as is one of the best collaborations of the year.
