This week on Instagram…Heathrow Airports reveals Santa’s Secret Workshop; Changi Airport unveils ‘Frozen Wonderland’

Social media has emerged as a key unofficial source of information in the digital age. As The Moodie Davitt Report steps up its mission to become ‘the KOL of B2B travel retail publishing’ (a phrase coined by leading Chinese WeChat platform Globuy), we are delighted to continue our weekly feature that curates some of the most exciting travel retail industry updates from the social media sphere – and touches on our own contributions.

This week on Instagram… airports all over the world welcomed December with a flurry of festive celebrations. In the UK, Heathrow Airports revealed its ‘Heathrow Elf Squad’ campaign, which invites travellers to peer through the periscopes in Terminal 2 and 5 to see the inner workings of ‘Santa’s Workshop’ underneath the airport.

Meanwhile, Belfast City Airport switched on its Christmas lights with the help of some little helpers; while Edinburgh Airport turned its control tower blue in celebration of St. Andrew’s Day.

In Asia, Changi Airport opened the doors to a different kind of ‘Winter Wonderland’ with its larger-than-life ‘Frozen Wonderland’ installation in the T2 Departure Hall. The installation – which was inspired by Disney’s Frozen 2 film – is also the centre-point of a number of interactive digital games for the airport’s Changi Wonderland campaign.

Finally, our own website and Instagram page have been taken over for a different kind of ‘celebration’ courtesy of Nestlé International Travel Retail. This week, NITR has partnered with The Moodie Davitt Report to share details on the key drivers that can make confectionery a US$10 billion travel retail category.

Every day of this week, we will be adding details about these drivers, before releasing a special Spotlight eZine that brings together the elements of the 10 in 10 pledge.

Nestlé International Travel Retail (NITR) is this week partnering with The Moodie Davitt Report to share details on the key drivers that can make confectionery a US$10 billion travel retail category. This week, we will be adding detail about these drivers each day, before releasing a special Spotlight eZine shortly that brings together the elements of the 10 in 10 pledge. Among the drivers, Nestlé is aiming to encourage year-round gifting and to celebrate the seasons. The first is designed to capitalise on the ritual of giving chocolates, biscuits or sweets to either impress or as a small token of appreciation after a trip. The second is about enhancing seasonal moments with products to gift or bond with friends, family or partners. Click the link in our bio to find out more #NestleTravelRetail #10in10 #Nestle #Confectionery
