TOBACCO: Agio changes company name

NETHERLANDS. As of 1 July this year Agio Sigarenfabrieken has changed its name to Agio Cigars.

Agio Cigars is a Dutch based and family owned cigar manufacturer and famous for its international recognised brands Mehari’s, Panter and Balmoral.

Agio Cigars was founded in 1904 in Duizel, The Netherlands. Today it has developed into a leading organisation in the cigar industry. Production facilities are located in The Netherlands, Belgium, Sri Lanka and the Dominican Republic. Sales offices are based in The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and Italy. Agio Cigars exports to over 100 countries selling almost 700 million cigars worldwide.

Reasons for the change of the company name were the international focus of Agio and the importance of export markets, said Agio, aspects to which an English name fits better than the original Dutch one.

Agio’s corporate identity has also changed. The new logo of Agio Cigars illustrates the field of industry its operating in by portraying two branches of tobacco leaves. The colouring has changed from the original blue to brown and gold, which fits more with the products Agio manufactures and sells and the 100th year anniversary Agio will celebrate next year.
