US. Nat Sherman, the luxury tobacco manufacturer and retailer, will add a touch of New York to the Queen Mary II when she launches in January.
The new liner, QM2 operated by the Cunard Line will have a central duty free retail area called the Mayfair Shops operated by concessionaire Harding Bros (The Moodie Report, 21 November 2003). She is scheduled to make her maiden voyage on 12 January 2004 with over 2,600 passengers on board.
The main duty free area within the Mayfair shops will feature Nat Sherman’s Legendary Selection (pictured) and also the Broadway Extravaganza box – a super-premium selection of cigars presented in a wooden case which will be customised with the emblem of the QM2.
Nat Sherman vice president Bill Sherman commented: “We are delighted to be aboard the Queen Mary where luxury will be the by-word – an ideal match for our products.”
The company said TFWA World Exhibition, with the launch of new king-size New York Cuts cigarettes, was very successful this year. “It was a pretty busy show all round for us with buyers from Asia, Europe, particularly Eastern Europe and the Middle East,” said Sherman.
“People have been telling us how they love the bright primary colours of the packs which have been something of a departure for us,” said Sherman. “The new colours give New York Cuts a younger fresher image which we really like. Obviously our customers do too.”
Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Duty Free has just signed Nat Sherman cigars, including the Legendary Selection, for its new cigar house. Aelia has listed a comprehensive selection of Nat Sherman cigars for all their Paris airport stores and Malaysian Airlines has also listed the Legendary Selection.
