Tokyo Narita Airport marks opening of first Issey Miyake boutique

The 104sq m boutique features Issey Miyake’s Pleats Please and Bao Bao brands

JAPAN. Tokyo Narita Airport has welcomed its first Issey Miyake boutique.

Narita International Airport Corporation (NAA) opened the iconic Japanese designer’s boutique on 27 February in the south wing of Terminal 1.

NAA’s subsidiary NAA Retailing is managing the boutique’s operations.

The third-floor boutique incorporates two Issey Miyake brands – Pleats Please apparel, in a space of 72sq m, and Bao Bao bags and accessories, in 32sq m.

Pleats Please Issey Miyake has been a stand-alone brand since 1993, featuring light, easy to wear and functional fashion using signature pleated material.

Bao Bao Issey Miyake was launched in 2000 as a line of bags and pouches designed around the theme ‘shapes made by chance’.

Early trading of the boutique has been very good, NAA reports.
