Tom Ford cultivates Private Blend collection with Jardin Noir

Jardin Noir will be available from September

The house of Tom Ford has extended its Private Blend collection with a fragrance quartet called Jardin Noir. It will be available in selected travel retail doors from September.

Jardin Noir aims to reveal the forbidden side of four distinctive blooms: narcissus, hyacinth, rose and lily, supported by surprising ingredients and daring fragrance structures, according to the brand. “Flowers can have a dark enchantment,” noted Ford. “Their beauty can be so extreme that it has a narcotic effect on the senses and a decadence that feels almost illicit.”

Jonquille de Nuit, which pays tribute to the narcissus flower, features top notes of wild Alpine cyclamen, acacia and angelica seeds, balanced with Egyptian violet leaf and bitter orange leaf absolute. The base blends orris and amber.

Ombre de Hyacinth teams the signature hyacinth note with earthy galbanum and green violet leaf. Other key ingredients include magnolia, pink peppercorn, jasmine absolute and benzoin.

Café Rose combines three rose essences with exotic spices and dark coffee. Saffron, black pepper and Rose de Mai give way to a heart of Turkish rose oil and Bulgarian rose absolute. Coffee, incense resin, amber, sandalwood and patchouli form the base.

Lastly, Lys Fume aims to capture the decadence of tropical intoxication. Top notes of mandarin, pink peppercorn, nutmeg and turmeric build to a floral heart of white lilies and ylang-ylang, punctuated with South Indian davana essence and West Indian Demerera rum essence. The dry-down features vanilla, labdanum, styrax and oakwood.

Each Jardin Noir fragrance is presented in the brand’s signature Private Blend bottle, on this occasion coloured black instead of Cognac-brown. The flacons are finished with lilac labels and gold lettering.

To enhance the collection’s mood of “dangerous beauty”, two limited-edition colour products from the Tom Ford Fall 2012 Cosmetics Collection will be presented alongside the Jardin Noir fragrances at all Tom Ford Private Blend counters. These are Aphrodisiac, a shocking rose-pink Lip Color, and Dominatrix, a deep purple Nail Lacquer shade.
