Aperol Spritz is growing in popularity |
Campari Group is staging a series of pop-up store promotions for its Italian aperitif brand Aperol at key European airports for Summer 2013.
After last year’s successful launch of the Aperol Spritz Beach concept in the top 10 airports in Europe, the programme has been expanded into more European hubs.
“The bright orange colour of Aperol reflected in the design of the Aperol Spritz “˜Beach’ will bring a splash of colour and sunshine to the airports,” it said.
This summer, travellers will be able to enjoy complimentary samples of Aperol Spritz while they relax on beach chairs under palm trees. The fun, beach-themed experience is designed to be shared with friends.
Bottles of Aperol and an Aperol Spritz Exclusive Travel Pack will be available to purchase at the Beach; the new bubbly and orange design of the Aperol Spritz pack contains a bottle of Aperol and Cinzano Prosecco.
The premium “see through the bottles” look of the pack, with the serving instructions at the back, are designed to allow holidaymakers to create the Aperol Spritz cocktail either on holiday or at home.
Consumers purchasing a bottle of Aperol, or the Aperol Spritz pack will be given an orange Aperol Spritz frisbee.
The first Aperol pop-up store opened on 7 June at Milan Malpensa Airport and will last until 31 July. The second store opening will take place at Zurich Airport on 18 June and will last until 15 July.
Travellers at the Swiss airport (Level 2) will be gifted with either a frisbee or pair of orange sunglasses on the purchase of a bottle of Aperol.
Throughout July, Aperol pop-up stores will be installed at the airports of Stuttgart, Hamburg and Rome (Shop 5), followed by August openings in Basel, Vienna and the key German airports of Munich and Frankfurt.
In Paris Charles de Gaulle (Espace Now – Terminal 3) the promotion will take place from 6-19 August. All travellers purchasing Aperol will be offered orange frisbees.
Described as light and refreshing, Aperol Spritz is made with Prosecco poured into an ice-filled glass, combined with Aperol and a splash of soda water before being garnished with a slice of fresh orange.

Global Travel Retail Director Andy Holmes said: “The Aperol Spritz Beach will bring the Aperol Spritz experience to life for travellers visiting the biggest European airports this summer, starting from Milan Malpensa and Zurich airports. It will also showcase the perfect Aperol Spritz serve and inspire more people to try and enjoy this spectacular summer drink.
“The low alcohol content and refreshing flavour of Aperol Spritz mean it’s the perfect choice whether you’re relaxing with friends in the sun, having a drink by the beach before dinner or for the aperitivo moment with some light food.”
