Troika targets the modern man with new brand positioning

GERMANY. Following its brand relaunch, German gift supplier Troika is now focusing on the theme of “˜personal gifts for the modern man’ in its offer.

Troika has been developing and selling gifts for almost two decades – and is said to be one of the market leaders in this field. The brand has won over 60 design prizes including the IF, red dot, the Good Design Award Japan, the Gold Star, the Design Plus award, the Design Prize of Rheinland Pfalz (Germany) and the Promotional Gift Award.

New ideas and functions, designs which are specific to men and exclusivity are key features of Troika products, which are predominantly made from stainless steel, aluminium and top quality leather.

Troika products are sold in more than 70 countries. Its travel retail footprint covers 16 cities in seven countries, including airports such as Istanbul Atatürk, Berlin Schonefeld, Frankfurt, Milan Malpensa, Singapore Changi, and Hong Kong International.

The company showcased its 2010/2011 travel retail collection at the TFWA World Exhibition last month, presenting items from four main categories: desk vehicles/accessories, key-rings, writing instruments, and card cases.

Troika has unveiled new retailer-friendly POS displays, including a new counter top display which holds 27 key-rings

One of the star products on show was Inukshuk, a multi-functional desk object made up of five magnetic stones (resin) and a stainless steel base. It can be used as a puzzle, a memo holder, a picture holder, or a paper clip holder (it comes with five paper clips in a net pouch). The versatility of Inukshuk has won Troika an honourable mention at the 2010 red dot design awards.

Also on show was Super Connie, a paperweight airplane with friction motor and magnet. The product draws inspiration from the Super Constellation airliner – also known as “˜Super Connie’ – built by Lockheed in the 1940s. The magnet is useful for keeping stray paper clips at bay while the friction motor propels the polished chrome propeller plane to travel speed.

Also on show in Cannes were new designs for its writing instruments and card cases.

Among Troika’s range of high quality key-rings is Light Flight, a chrome-plated airplane design in metal casting and blue LED light feature.

Twister is a key-holder leather loop made of black leather and metal. Featuring three key-rings, its innovative “˜twist-lock’ mechanism has earned it a nomination in the 2008 Designpreis.

Troika key-rings make ideal impulse buys, Troika Senior Sales Manager Carolina Marini told The Moodie Report. Not only are they made of high quality materials, Troika key-rings come in a wide variety of designs suitable for men and women of all ages. Prices range from €9 to €21.

Troika has also introduced new retailer-friendly POS displays, including a new counter top display which holds 27 key-rings, as well as a standee with a lock system that secures the key-rings while allowing customers to interact with the products.

Troika also handles B2B corporate gifting, where retailers can customise Troika products with their own branded logos and designs.
