Tyko Brands has hailed the success of its Hippie Chic and Kartel watch brands and reports “immense” interest for its Spring/Summer 2016 collection.

According to Tyko Brands, since its launch in 2013 Hippie Chic has “defined and continues to dominate” the sub £20 onboard impulse category, with inflight sales of Boho and Bazaar watches reaching 6,000 units.

The company said 2015 was a record year in terms of sales and listings for Hippie Chic, which reached a “milestone” 1,000,000 units.

Tyko Brands Sales Director Martin Lovatt said: “Whilst 2015 was a phenomenal year for Hippie Chic, our S/S16 collection is attracting an immense amount of interest. The new collection sees the brand take its first steps into new product categories, jewellery and accessories, whilst building on the core watch range.”

Lovatt noted that Hippie Chic was a ‘recognised’ brand for buyers and passengers. He predicted that 2016 sales will exceed 2015 totals, adding that listings to date were up +19% compared to 2015’s numbers.

Tyko Brands recorded a +50% year-on-year increase in listings for Kartel watches. This year the range is available in ground stores for the first time, with initial interest “exceeding all expectations,” the company stated.

The company also announced “above expectation” sales from major airline partners, with Kartel reportedly outselling other established onboard brands both by volume and value. “Kartel ticks all the right boxes,” Lovatt said. “It offers passengers exceptional value for money, the collection is bang on trend and, above all, it’s a UK brand”.
