Austrian-based Umdasch Shopfitting Group has announced that it is to buy family-owned shopfitting company Story Design in a move to strengthen its presence in Eastern Europe and increase its sales and production network.

Founded in 1995 as a creative agency by the Brýdl Family, Story Design claims to be one of the most successful companies within its sector, recently recording revenues of approximately €25 million. During the past two decades, the Czech company has developed its expertise as a shopfitter for business premises for mobile phone providers, banks, automobile manufacturers and system catering companies, plus many others. The company will be integrated into Umdasch’s Fashion & Lifestyle Division.
Today, Story Design’s workforce of 240 employees operates at two locations in the Czech Republic and in Moscow. Production takes place in the modern wood and metal facilities in LitomyÅ¡l, Czech Republic.

Umdasch Shopfitting Chairman of the Executive Board Silvio Kirchmair said: “Story Design’s customer portfolio and the access to the Eastern European market fit in ideally with the growth strategy of Umdasch Shopfitting.”
Filip Brýdl, who will remain Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Story Design, added: “Umdasch Shopfitting is a family-owned company as we were until today. Our values and goals are identical. We have a good feeling as we lay our life’s work in the hands of Umdasch.”
