MALAYSIA. Leading luxury goods and travel retail specialist Valiram Group, in partnership with GP Asia (HK), has opened the first Podium Motorsports store at Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s (KLIA) Satellite Terminal.
The new retail concept aims to cater to the growing number of motorsport and car enthusiasts in the Asian region.
As the official distributor of licensed Ferrari products in Asia, GP Asia first began selling motorsports items trackside at the Formula One Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix and the Formula One Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix in 2004. The company has since developed a fully fledged retail concept with stores in Singapore, Korea, Thailand and now, Malaysia. It has plans to expand in other Asian countries such as China, Hong Kong, Taipei and the Philippines.
It has pledged to deliver “a unique shopping experience”, from themed interior decor to a high level of customer service, with official licensed merchandise from core brands Ferrari, Lamborghini and Vodafone McLaren. Plans are underway to bring in more brands in 2010, including merchandise from Mercedes GP Petronas, Renault, Ferrari Cartorama, Gummibears, Moto GP, and various others.
Valiram Group Director Sharan Valiram said: “Malaysians are generally enthusiastic about the Formula One sport, and with exclusive brands offered at the store, motorsports fans will be spoilt for choice. Malaysians and transatlantic consumers will no longer need to wait for competitions in order to acquire officially licensed motorsports merchandise. Just race over to KLIA to browse through Podium Motorsports’ vast selection of products ideal for the home or office, or for gifts such as men’s, ladies and children’s apparel, accessories, gadgets, sought after collectibles and many more”.
