CANADA. Retailers at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) are enticing holiday shoppers with a range of special offers.
Shoppers who spend C$75 (US$60.5) or more (on a single receipt) at the airport will receive five ‘YVR Bucks’ to spend at any YVR shop, service or restaurant. In addition, shoppers will find savings at the annual boxing week “runway” sale from 24 December to 3 January, 2005.
Many of YVR’s retail brands, including The Body Shop, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Tie Rack and Bentley, have Christmas gift special offers.
The retail cart Designer Option has sunglasses at one for C$13 (US$10.50) and two for C$20 (US$16.10), or ski goggles with anti-fog UVA/B protection for C$18 (US$14.50). House of Charms has Italian sterling silver necklaces for C$15 (US$12.10) and a jewellery box for C$9 (US$7.20). Tickers offers watches and clocks at C$12 (US$9.70) each or C$10 (US$8) each for two or more items.
Passengers travelling to the US can find duty free gift ideas at Kids Works, which carries brands such as Crayola, Lego, Barbie and Sesame Street, and National Geographic, which offers educational and adventurous gifts.
Electronics retailer InMotion Pictures offers a DVD player at C$749.99 (US$605.80) or Panasonic Digital Camera D-Snap SVA510 at C$404.99 (US$327.10).
Beauty bargains in the Tax & Duty Free store include MAC Lip Glass sets priced at C$36.50 (US$29.48), a Lancôme Bon Voyage set at C$63 (US$50.80), and Men’s Clinique Scent & Shave C$51 (US$41.20). High-end fashion and accessories on offer include purses, scarves and gloves from Burberry and ties from Hermès.
Vancouver International has more than 140 shops, services and restaurants and expects to serve over 15 million passengers in 2004. Its duty free retailer is The Nuance Group.
