Video of the Day: Cathay Pacific captures Hong Kong’s charms in new inflight safety film

HONG KONG, CHINA. Cathay Pacific has geared up its efforts to promote Hong Kong as a favoured travel destination in a compelling new inflight safety video being launched tomorrow (1 August).

The six-minute clip, developed in collaboration with Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), takes passengers through inflight safety procedures set against Hong Kong’s dynamic backdrop.

Safety demonstrations are interwoven with the city’s vibrant charms, including landmarks, other attractions and natural landscapes.

A dragon boat race provides the backdrop for the lifejacket demonstration
 Shek O Beach sets the scene for the emergency and pre-takeoff procedures

Visually immersive locales include Causeway Bay’s shopping paradise; West Kowloon Cultural District’s Xiqu Centre; Peak Tram; Yau Ma Tei’s historic Tin Hau Temple; and Clearwater Bay Country Park.

Cathay Pacific officially launched the video during a preview event at The Sky Lounge ­– The Upper House. The occasion was hosted by Cathay Pacific Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau. Hong Kong Tourism Board Executive Director Dane Cheng and ​Commissioner for Tourism Vivian Sum were among the distinguished guests.

Lau said: “At Cathay Pacific, safety has always been at the heart of everything we do, and this new video embodies our commitment to keeping our customers informed and prepared, while fostering our Move Beyond spirit.

“We wanted to put our own spin on the video and create something truly memorable that resonates with our global audience and showcases the true essence of our home city on the move.

“We are deeply appreciative of the support from HKTB, which has allowed us to weave together inflight safety information and the vibrant offerings of Hong Kong in a gripping video.”
