USA. WHSmith North America, incorporating Marshall Retail Group and InMotion, has unveiled seven new stores in Newark Liberty International Airport’s newly-renovated Terminal A.
The concepts include four newsstand concepts – Vue New Jersey, New Jersey Monthly, Telegraph 1st Edition and WHSmith + Wellness – all offering newspapers, books and magazines, and a wide selection of convenience items. The four stores are pictured below (credit for all images: Eamonn Conway).
A new specialty retail concept involves four separate brands, all named on the storefront. They are Hugo Boss, Tumi, Hershel Supply Co. and tentree, between them featuring apparel, accessories, luggage and eco-friendly products, plus much more.
WHSmith has also debuted a new marketplace concept, Shore Points Market, which features goods supplied by local New Jersey shop, Corrado’s Market.
The retailer and the airport partnered with the Munich Group to commission a 40-foot tall mural from globally-acclaimed artists WERC and Gera as a visual draw for the store. Pulling inspiration from landmarks, sea life, fauna and other notable elements around the Jersey shore the eye-catching mural depicts a powerful sea goddess. WERC said he hopes the mural will calm the minds of travellers while breathing spirit and energy into the space.
An InMotion location has also opened in Terminal A, offering the latest technology for business and leisure travellers. This includes lifestyle products and electronics including headphones, mobile power, Bluetooth speakers and other travel accessories.
WHSmith North America CEO Toby Keir said: “The renovation of Terminal A was a veritable success, and we are proud to have contributed to this project with seven unique concepts, all capturing the local colour of New Jersey. With many additional concepts in development, we are excited to continue our partnership with the amazing team at Newark Liberty International Airport.”
WHSmith North America also revealed it will open seven additional concepts in Terminal A this summer.
