Women in Travel Retail (WiTR) will host its annual fund-raising meeting during the upcoming Moodie Davitt Virtual Travel Retail Expo. The virtual meeting will take place on 15 October.
As reported, FILTR, The Moodie Davitt Report’s partner in curating the Virtual Travel Retail Expo, has pledged to donate 5% of all design fees from the event to ImpactHK – WiTR’s 2020 nominated charity.
ImpactHK supports the homeless in Hong Kong with a particular focus on women and the aged. Women on the streets, as in many other cities, are particularly vulnerable and susceptible to abuse and attack.
WiTR members and non-members can join what promises to be a fun event from anywhere in the world via a Zoom link at: 7am US/Canada East Coast; 12 noon UK BST; 1pm Central European Time; 4pm Middle East and 7pm Beijing time.

This year’s event will open with an introduction by ImpactHK Founder Jeff Rotmeyer, a get-together and quiz set by WiTR Vice Chair, and ‘quizmaster’, Gerry Munday. Prizes include a handcrafted Coccinelle handbag for the overall winner and Amazon vouchers.
WiTR Chair Sarah Branquinho said: “The usual event at TFWA World Exhibition has always given WiTR a wonderful opportunity to raise funds for our annual charity and without that this year, the money raised is inevitably very limited.
“For this reason we have agreed that ImpactHK will continue as the WiTR nominated charity for 2021.”
There is no charge to join the event, although WiTR has suggested a donation of minimum €10, £10 or US$10 via the WiTR website.
“Our hearts go out to all who have themselves caught COVID-19 or had family members who have suffered, and to those who have been furloughed and particularly to those who have lost their jobs” – WiTR Chair Sarah Branquinho
“All funds donated will go directly to ImpactHK and will be added to the donation very kindly promised by FILTR who is generously donating 5% of its income as a partner in the Virtual Travel Retail Expo to Impact HK,” Munday said.
Branquinho added: “This year continues to be the most devastating that our duty-free/travel retail industry has ever known, and for most of us a very unsettling and strange one at best.
“Our hearts go out to all who have themselves caught COVID-19 or had family members who have suffered, and to those who have been furloughed and particularly to those who have lost their jobs.”
