UK. World Duty Free Group (WDFG) has unveiled a redeveloped store at East Midlands Airport. The 926sq m store makes better use of space and adds several new brands, the retailer said.

The 77sq m liquor area at the front of the store features tasting areas and an extensive range of spirits, wines and Champagnes, while a 45sq m Tobacco Display Area – featured in all the retailer’s new outlets – complies with current and future tobacco legislation.

The 926sq m store has been open to passengers since September

Beauty products are housed in the biggest space in the store, at 310sq m, occupying one side of the store’s walkway. New brands include skincare lines Elemis, Smashbox, Biotherm, GlamGlow and Molton Brown.

Clearer sight lines have been created within the 120sq m luxury area, where new brands include Marc by Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford. The store also hosts a 32sq m confectionery area and a 12sq m souvenirs and tax-free section.

World Duty Free Group UK Director of Retail Operations Fred Creighton said: “We are delighted with what we have achieved here, working in close partnership with the team at Manchester Airport Group. We have delivered a great looking store which will really enhance customers’ airport shopping experience.”

Manchester Airports Group Chief Commercial Officer Ken O’Toole added: “We are proud to be launching this premium shopping experience for our passengers today. Our teams have worked closely with World Duty Free Group to bring a fresh look and feel to the airport and deliver on those products that our customers most want to see.

“East Midlands Airport has invested £12 million (US$19.3 million) in redeveloping the terminal building, with the aim of improving the facilities available, and this is a significant step in improving the retail offering for our passengers.”
