Danish and Scandinavian specialities as well as international lines all add to the flavour at FineFOOD International Delicatessen |
DENMARK. Dutch company World of Delights has opened a new outlet called FineFOOD International Delicatessen at Copenhagen Airport.
World of Delights* is well known in travel retail as it runs the deli shops and the pier stores at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
The company’s new 120sq m outlet at the Danish gateway opened on 1 June and replaces a fine foods store that closed on 1 February.
Commercial Manager Jürgen Brüske told The Moodie Report: “Whilst the core of the range is Scandinavian (with the emphasis on Danish), the full offer contains products from all over the world, such as chorizo from Spain, cheese from the Netherlands, but also specialties from as far away as New Zealand and Australia.
“In addition to the “˜regular’ food categories, we have added a special beers range as well as a wine section. The local manager Mikael Schoenberg will continue to develop and extend the range. Since the previous outlet closed its doors the food categories have been dearly missed by travellers at Copenhagen Airport. The return of Scandinavian specialties are appreciated by the customers.”
Brüske said the international flavour of the store was also reflected in its staff. “Our sales team lives up to that qualification with no less than 11 different nationalities or those having roots from countries other than Denmark in a team consisting of 13 people. That ensures that our guests can be addressed in most languages.”
The shop has been designed by a Dutch architect, Arthur de Froe.

Using the tag line “˜The world’s welcome to superior food”, World of Delights has been active in the travel channel for 48 years. It operates 11 outlets at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, which offer a wide range of delicacies, foodstuffs and chocolates.
As well as being an airport retailer, World of Delights is a wholesaler. It supplies top-quality products such as caviar, salmon and wines to the wholesale trade, delicatessens and the hotel and catering industry. Since April 2005 it has also offered luxury gift items made of glass, crystal, ceramics and pottery to souvenir and gift shops.
In the same year the company also began developing a numbers of downtown souvenirs shops.
