CHINA. Zhuhai Duty Free Group was yesterday (15 April) awarded the Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport departures duty-free contract.
The success is particularly notable for Zhuhai Duty Free as it represents the retailer’s first airport duty-free store in the Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area.
The contract will also service as a strategic support point for the company to enhance its duty-free operations in the Greater Bay Area, Zhuhai Duty Free said.
Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport, an important trunk airport in the eastern coastal region, serves eight international and regional air routes and is connected to 62 domestic and overseas cities.
The second-floor 128sq m departures store enjoys a prime position with all passengers needing to pass by on their way to the boarding gates.
“The successful bid for Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport’s departures duty-free store constitutes an important step for Zhuhai Duty Free Group to deepen its efforts in port duty-free in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area,” the company said.
“It will lay a good foundation for the group’s subsequent expansion into the duty-free market in key cities across the country.”
