The first Zilli boutique to open at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport |
FRANCE. French luxury menswear brand Zilli has opened a new boutique at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport as part of its strategy to expand its international travel retail network.
The outlet opened on 28 June in CdG Terminal 2C and is the first Zilli boutique to open at Roissy Airport.
Zilli has developed a unique concept for its travel retail outlets: boutiques that are contemporary and elegant, with a luxury positioning. Specific ivory-coloured display units have been designed to highlight the sportswear and accessories: ties, belts, leathergoods, knitwear and shirts.
Alexandra Schimel, Zilli’s Duty Free Development Manager, explained: “The clientele of Zilli is international above all. Travellers make up a large proportion of these clients, including businessmen and diplomats. So the house has to be where its clients go. That is why we have decided to develop our travel retail which has grown sharply since 2003.”
Schimel added: “Zilli is one of the few houses, if not the only one, to offer in its duty free outlets luxury garments and accessories, each a unique piece made from noble materials – alligator, Egyptian cotton, python, ostrich, etc – and made with the same attention as the articles sold in the boutiques of international capitals.”
With 90% of its turnover generated by exports, Zilli has become in 35 years the key reference for French know-how in menswear. Its international influence now covers 32 countries, with 18 boutiques, 150 sales outlets and 15 areas (boutiques and corners) in duty free zones.
Travel retail represents over 8% of turnover this year, and is a key vehicle for the communication and image of the House of Zilli.
It enables the House to meet new clients from many nationalities in airports around the world and to build the loyalty of aficionados of the brand with the gold ingot, said Schimel.
About Zilli
Zilli, the leading French brand of luxury menswear, was founded in 1970. The house is chaired by its founder Alain Schimel and its workshops are located in France and Italy. Over 200 employees put together the two annual collections of garments and accessories which major on noble materials (sable, ostrich, silk, peccary, guanaco, etc). No less than 6,000 made-to-measure items are produced by the Lyons workshops and 40,000 ties are sold worldwide, making Zilli the leading manufacturer of hand-stitched ties, including its seven-crease tie. With consolidated turnover of €27 million and +30% growth in 2005, the firm exports 90% of its production, most of it going to Eastern European countries, the Middle East and southeast Asia.
