Unique Group reported that the airport’s profits in 2002 were CHF 8.1 million (US$6 million) and revenues were CHF 528 million (US$398 million), CHF10 million (US$7.5 million) or -1.9% lower than the previous year. Taking responsibility for operations such as baggage sorting at Zurich contributed to a fall in non-aviation income, where Unique earned CHF 242 million (US$182 million) compared to CHF 259 million (US$195 million) the previous year. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) increased by 11.4% to CHF 207 million (US$156 million).
Passenger traffic: Zurich airport saw a -14.6% fall in passengers last year to 17.9 million who used Zurich as the starting point or destination of their air travel. Scheduled flight passengers fell -15.9% to 15.9 million while charter traffic dropped -2.7% year on year to just under 2 million.
