Zurich Airport passenger traffic rise exceeds commercial sales growth in first nine months

Airside retail and dining sales outstripped landside commercial performance over the first nine months at the Swiss gateway

SWITZERLAND. Zurich Airport retail and dining turnover reached CHF472.4 million (US$588.5 million) in the first nine months of 2025, down by a marginal -0.2% compared to the same period last year. Airside sales climbed +2.3% but landside sales fell -3.7%.

The figures contrasted with passenger traffic growth of +3.6% year-on-year to 30 September, with volumes reaching 24.5 million.

Airside spend per departing passenger in the nine-month period fell -1.3% year-on-year to CHF22.80 (US$28.41).

In September alone, commercial turnover slipped by -0.8% to CHF56.7 million (US$70.6 million) while average spend was down -1% year-on-year in the month to CHF23.20 (US$28.90).

The commercial numbers lagged passenger traffic growth of +3.4% in the month, with volumes exceeding 3 million.
