Zurich Airport passenger traffic rise outpaces commercial sales growth in first six months

Promotional power with Avolta at Zurich Airport; airside commercial sales outpaced landside performance in the first half

SWITZERLAND. Zurich Airport retail and dining turnover reached CHF297.8 million (US$331 million) in the first six months of 2024, a rise of +5.6% on the same period last year. Airside sales climbed by +8.3% with landside up by +2.4%.

The growth figures remained below the half-year passenger traffic increase of +10.6%, with volumes reaching 14.5 million.

Airside spend per departing passenger in the half slipped by -2.1% year-on-year to CHF23 (US$25.57).

In June, commercial turnover rose by +6.9% to CHF57 million (US$63.4 million) though spend also dipped in the month, falling -0.9% to CHF24.10 (US$26.79).

The commercial numbers lagged passenger traffic growth of +8.1% in the month to 2.8 million. ✈
