SWITZERLAND. Total turnover (net sales to consumers) during October at Zürich Airport rose +9.0% year-on-year to CHF37.9 million (US$33.7 million).
Overall turnover per departing passenger eased ahead to CHF 39.05 (+0.4%). Turnover per departing passenger on the airside increased by +5.2% year-on-year, while landside turnover per departing passenger was up by +0.5%.
The airport handled 1,941,370 passengers in the month, a gain of +8.6% over October 2006. For the first ten months passenger numbers have increased by +7.6%.
Transfer passengers rose +17.1% to 633,518 in October (YTD +15.2%). The transfer rate, which was at 30.3% in October 2006, stood at 32.7% (YTD 33.5%). Passengers originating or departing from Zürich rose by +5.6% to 1,301,494 versus the previous October (YTD +4.7%).
For the year to date the low-cost market share stands at 8.2%, above last year’s figure of 6.9%.
