US. Brex, the Miami-based distributor of Brazilian brands, attracted some of the biggest crowds during the Duty Free Show of the Americas. “Today is a big day for us,” said Brex chief Benjamin de Chaudenay speaking to The Moodie Report on opening day. “For the time being we are only in the Brazilian market with Brasif. We have some of the products which Brasif has, and many more. They are suited to various markets such as Lupo [socks] for European operators and Melissa [sandals] for leisure destinations. Next we will be ready for Cannes”
Tastings were in full flow for Brazil’s prize-winning gourmet coffee Spress, Garoto Chocolates and Kopenhagen Chocolates as well as two of Brazil’s ever-popular cachaça brands: Velho Barreiro and Autentica. Brex is exclusively handling all travel retail sales of the brands shown in Orlando including the EKOS cosmetics lines of Natura, Brazil’s market leader. Last October Natura Ekos International vice president Philippe Pommez addressed a United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) meeting on the sustainable development of a cosmetics line of products.
Brex is a is a joint venture between Brazil’s largest airport retailer Brasif and trading group Silex.
