Duty Free World Council spreads its web – 23/07/04

The DFWC will use the new website at www.dfworldcouncil.com to provide information to opinion-formers outside the industry on current issues

INTERNATIONAL. The newly-formed Duty Free World Council (DFWC) has launched a website which will serve as an information, news and data resource about the travel retail and duty free industry.

Comprising representatives from existing national, regional and related trade associations, the DFWC’s principal objectives are to promote the travel retail and duty free industry worldwide and to communicate its stance on issues affecting the industry.

The DFWC will use the new website at www.dfworldcouncil.com to provide information to opinion-formers outside the industry on current issues.

Initially the website will offer industry data provided by travel retail research specialist Generation, position papers on key topics, and contact lists of trade associations and key trade journals, with direct links to those which have their own websites.

The DFWC website has been financed by contributions from IAADFS, MEDFA, TFWA, Frontier Duty Free Association and the newly-formed European Travel Retail Council with valuable assistance on content from Generation and Marshall Lightfoot.

BAA Business Relationships Director Sarah Branquinho, who has co-ordinated this project, said, “The Duty Free World Council provides the industry with a forum in which it can formulate positions and a voice with which it can express its collective will on critical issues. Through this website we will be able to project a positive image of our industry to governments, regulatory bodies and key media. The site offers a window through which the world can see the relevance of duty and tax free sales to the travel, tourism and transport industry as a whole.”

The Duty Free World Council website was designed and built by Michael Cooper at 3Gdigital Wireless Internet, specialists in Internet solutions for the wireless world. The company also helped develop The Moodie Report.com.
