BELGIUM. Advertising company JCDecaux has been awarded a 10-year contract to operate Brussels Airport’s indoor and outdoor advertising business. The contract begins on 1 January 2008.
“JCDecaux presented us with an excellent business plan,” said Wilfried Van Assche, Chief Executive of Brussels Airport. “Their leading position in the European and world market and their global experience gave us the required guarantees in terms of innovation and access to major advertisers, among which are some major brands that are currently absent. The company’s very significant foothold in Belgium in the field of outdoor communication and the fact that it has a large and experienced team reinforced our choice.”
“We would like to thank Brussels Airport for awarding us this contract,” said Jean-Sébastien Decaux, Chief Executive of JCDecaux Belgique. “It is a great challenge that JCDecaux is ready to rise to, especially since Brussels Airport has some ambitious development projects. With this contract, Brussels Airport has strengthened our position as number one worldwide in airport advertising, managing seven of the ten largest airport hubs in the world.”
The existing contract between the current advertising partner Air Terminal Publicity (ATP) and Brussels Airport Company will finish at the end of 2007. ATP has been responsible for advertising since 1965.
JCDecaux manages the advertising at 141 airports, among them London Heathrow, Los Angeles, Paris Charles De Gaulle, New York, Shanghai, and Frankfurt.
