UK. Onboard Retail Solutions, the inflight POS technology specialist formerly known as ClueTrader, has named David Maddison as Head of Retail Partnerships and Head of Business Development – Rail, effective 30 March 2009.
Maddison joins the company after three years as International Sales Manager for Airport Express Alliance, the trade sales and marketing alliance for the Gatwick and Heathrow Express Air-Rail links. He was responsible for third-party relationships, including inflight and electronic sales partnerships with more than 20 airlines and other retailers.
Before this, he spent over two decades in the travel and aviation industry, working firstly in business travel with Bales, followed by eight years in sales at Qantas Airways and a further 10 years in global airline and airport sales and marketing, within schedules distribution at OAG.
Said Maddison: “I was attracted to Onboard as they have a truly customer-oriented ethos, together with state-of-the-art retail technology solutions to increase ancillary revenues in the onboard environment. I am looking forward to working with the team at Onboard to continue to deliver win-win solutions in these challenging and changing times.”
Maddison will be based at the company’s London Heathrow offices, working closely with Sales and Marketing Director Dan Hayter, who added: “David is a fantastic find for us at Onboard, combining experience at sales, marketing and managerial levels within both the rail and airline industries. His understanding of how both sectors work, and importantly how they can work together, will be a huge plus for our future development and growth. At Onboard, our goal is simple: to be the number one provider of onboard POS technology for both the airline and rail industries, enabling operators to significantly increase their onboard ancillary revenues. David will play a vital role in helping us to achieve that objective.”
Onboard Retail Solutions has more than 20 airline and rail customers worldwide, including British Airways, Cyprus Airways, Etihad, FlyBE, National Express, Monarch Airlines, Thomson Airways and Royal Air Maroc.
