Jo Malone invites travellers to Tea with Fragrance Blends quintet

Jo Malone’s new Tea Fragrance Blends

INTERNATIONAL. Jo Malone has created a limited-edition fragrance collection inspired by the art of tea. Tea Fragrance Blends – comprising Assam & Grapefruit, Earl Grey & Cucumber, Fresh Mint Leaf, Sweet Lemon and Sweet Milk – will be available in travel retail from March.

The line offers a Tea Cologne for every style and mood, according to the brand. Each scent is also suitable for Fragrance Combiningâ„¢.

Master Perfumer Christine Nagel explained: “The idea of taking a classic ritual and reinterpreting it in an innovative way is signature to Jo Malone. The ceremony of tea is a timeless, simple and authentic practise, but in relation to fragrance, surprising and original.

“I was inspired by the aromas of tea leaves steeped in hot water, so the challenge with this collection was to take the intense character of each tea and create wearable colognes, in keeping with Jo Malone’s olfactory signature.”

The classic Red Roses collection

Jo Malone Global General Manager Dominic De Vetta added: “At present celebrating tradition is at the forefront of fashion, hence the English ritual of taking tea feels contemporary again. Tea Fragrance Blends has allowed us to be inventive, unexpected and somewhat eclectic in our creation of new scents.”

Assam & Grapefruit Cologne is described as invigorating and upbeat, like the first cup of morning tea. In addition to grapefruit and assam, it features notes of patchouli, cardamom and almond.

Earl Grey & Cucumber Cologne represents a playful twist on the British tradition of high tea, maintains the brand. The key ingredients are bergamot, cucumber, beeswax, vanilla and musk.

Fresh Mint Leaf Cologne is a refreshing tisane of mint, basil and maté, atop a base of cedar wood and musk.

All three teas can be combined with Sweet Lemon or Sweet Milk Cologne. The former delivers a fruity twist thanks to the inclusion of pineapple, peach and fresh green cypress. The latter adds an element of “rounded richness”, via a milk accord of star anise, almond and vanilla.

In other news, Jo Malone has added to its classic Red Roses collection for bath, body and home. The line, originally launched on Valentine’s Day, has been extended with a new Red Roses Body Crème. It is rolling out in travel retail this month.
