Biotherm targets tired travellers with Skin.Ergetic treatment line

Targeting tiredness: Biotherm’s Skin.Ergetic Serum

FRANCE. Biotherm has unveiled a new treatment line, called Skin.Ergetic, designed to combat the appearance of tired skin. The key target market is women aged from 30 to 40. The range made its debut in selected European doors in December, and will roll out to Asia later this summer.

Fatigue (physical and mental) shows itself in the face through loss of radiance, an uneven complexion, visible pores, roughness and an unrefined skin texture. “Women’s lives have changed,” noted Biotherm International General Manager Charlotte Franceries. “Constant, everyday multi-tasking leads to the appearance of physical fatigue which shows first on the face.”

Biotherm/L’Oréal Research carried out experiments on reconstructed skin, to demonstrate that improper functioning of the mitochondria leads to deterioration of skin tissue. This increases oxidative stress, leading to loss of cellular vitality and visible signs of fatigue. The solution was the Skin.Ergetic range, which boosts skin cell vitality by stimulating mitochondrial activity; helps the skin protect itself from daily aggressions; and stimulates the skin’s capacity to recover and to eliminate waste.

The range incorporates Fresh Skincare, which means key ingredients are activated at the last minute. The serum formula features active elements which are powerful but fragile, and previously difficult to use given their instability. Among these is sulforaphane-rich broccoli extract. This has been isolated in a capsule to be activated at the last minute, immediately before the first application. With one click, the activation capsule releases the active ingredients in the form of a concentrated powder, thereby retaining optimum stability for three months.

The Skin.Ergetic range comprises a serum and day and night moisturisers. 99% of the serum ingredients are of natural origin, with no parabens, mineral oil or artificial colours. The anti-oxidant moisturiser features five active components from fruits and vegetables, to scavenge free radicals. The detox night treatment is said to soothe and moisturise to deliver a bright, purified complexion every morning.
